Join Eleanor Beestin and Harry Wilkins as they share their research into James Watt’s relationships with some of his closest family; his two wives, his son Gregory and his daughter Margaret. Based on original diaries and correspondence they will look at the role that Gregory played in his father’s business and Watt’s estrangement from his adult daughter Margaret.

Eleanor Beestin and Harry Wilkins are post-graduate students at University of Leicester and University of Birmingham and have completed in-depth research into James Watt’s personal correspondence and business papers in the James Watt Archive.
